Alicia,

When I look around at my friends (like you!), who are dealing amazingly well with multiple chronic conditions apiece or are dealing with grief (or all of the above)... I can't help but be inspired.

As far as the busy factor, I sometimes look back at my week and wonder, "how did I do all of that?" I am 100% sure you know exactly what I mean! Sometimes it's surreal to look at what was accomplished despite pain or illness.

I'm so excited about the promising developments you're having as far as adoption news. I'm sending positive energy your way!!

:)

Amanda,

You are so sweet. You always do something useful on your commutes to work, don't you? (Do you ride one of those cool double-decker red buses or no?) Well, your "old blog" was called "Dream of Living", wasn't it? I couldn't agree with you more. While chronic illness certainly imposes adversity and stress, it also gives us an opportunity to become more aware, to focus our time and prioritize with real meaning/purpose, and just be grateful for the little things that we might not appreciate quite as much if we were healthy day in and day out. Chronic illness tend to focus the lens on what matters. Life is short. So being focused really is a gift. Also, the adversity itself makes us stronger. We may not always appreciate those nasty symptoms or the equally nasty timing they seem to have... but all in all there are many gifts and lessons that chronic illness can give. Thank you, Amanda.

Have been holding everyone in my thoughts and prayers this week on my bus rides in to work (great way to make the journey go quicker!!) There have been big things going on in my mind these past few weeks and it amazes me how much is based on the dreams I had as a child and how I thought life would be when I grew up and how none of it ever had anything to do with my health and how in some ways it is sad that so many people have to work major life decisions as well as day-to-day living around their health but also how much more aware it makes you... you value things more and take more time to make sure you make a right decision and then really understand your blessings etc... great post and great timing xx

Hi Caf,

I'm so happy to see you here! It's looking like our blogs may well be our new way of staying connected. This is a difficult time... for me and for many of my friends. Yes, chronic pain makes it even more challenging to deal with whatever else comes our way but, as my friend Endochick said today (that famous saying) "if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger". I think she's right. (I would give credit to the person who initially came up with that saying if I knew who it was. That saying sure gets a lot of use). Anyway, we all have our struggles and we all have our good times and our bad times. While the spot that I'm at now is definitely further towards the latter (bad time) end of the spectrum than I'd like, I know it will pass. So, I just have to make the best of it. Your wish for the universe to send me some sunshine is sweet and appreciated. I hope the universe listens to you! :)

Jeanne

P.S. Umm, oh yeah... apparently this very nice Australian woman I know will be seeing Tori Amos live next month! (I just read your post and will be commenting shortly on it but I must make note here that my 'green eyes' in this case are all about "concert envy syndrome"). Have fun!!!

Sorry to read that you are having such a tough time, Jeanne. It's always harder to deal with the sad things happening around us when we are struggling and in pain as well. I hope that you feel much better, really soon and that the universe drops a little sunshine in your lap.

Endochick,

I just hope you're feeling much better very soon! I have been thinking about you a lot.

Yes, Michael J. Fox really is inspirational. I love his quotes. I love his attitude.

Thank you for sharing the poem that makes you feel better! :)

Thanks for all your support, Jeanne, when I was in the hospital. And even now when I'm still in pain and trying to figure all this out. MJF is such an inspiration.

"Rage, rage against the dying of the light." - Dylan Thomas I love that too. It's my favorite poem of all time. I just insert whatever illness I have instead of dying of the light. LOL silly, but it works for me.

"Don't go gentle into that good night/Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

Hi Jo,

Yes, Michael J. Fox is great. He has some great quotes. I'm not familiar with the one you mentioned but he has some really good ones!

Thank you. I hope you're feeling well yourself!

Jeanne

Oh, isn't MJF great? He also said something about chronic illness being the gift that keeps on taking. Sorry, can't remember the exact quote at this time of the morning. Hope you feel better soon.
