National Infertility Awareness Week 2011

I haven’t written a blog post in a couple of weeks because I have had a migraine for 3.5 weeks now and I have been offline the vast majority of the time.

However, I did want to mention that this is National Infertility Awareness Week 2011. Please click the logo below for more information from RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association:

Why not take the pledge today?

Infertility is a disease that affects 1 in 8 couples of childbearing age. Odds are good that you know people who are struggling with infertility (whether you are aware of it or not).

“Infertility is a disease that results in the abnormal functioning of the male or female reproductive system. Both the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), World Health Organization (WHO) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recognize infertility as a disease”. [Source: RESOLVE].

Please consider learning more about infertility. It is common for well-meaning people to make hurtful and insensitive remarks to people who are struggling with infertility. (Hopefully increased awareness will make this phenomenon less common).

Thank you. Yesterday and today have been the best so far (since it began). The migraine isn’t 100% gone but it’s definitely improved from a couple of days ago. Sending hugs and healing vibes back to you. xoxo

Thank you! I really miss talking to everyone I’m used to talking to. You have been so thoughtful checking in on me while I’ve been almost completely offline. Sending hugs your way.

Thank you. Yeah, it has been a long time. I’m so glad that it appears to finally be lifting. It has been almost a month.

I think it’s so important for people to be aware (at least on some level) of what infertile couples struggle with. Our society as a whole just doesn’t seem to grasp how challenging, emotional, difficult, and expensive the family building process can be for some people. Too many people make insensitive remarks that hurt people. Hopefully, that will change as more people become educated about infertility.

Thank you. I’m working on feeling better. I never dreamed a migraine that began March 31st would still be hanging on now.
