Climate Change
Last year, I participated in Blog Action Day 2008. (Last year it was Blog Action for Poverty Day).
Here is a video about this year’s Blog Action Day:
I will be blogging for Blog Action Day 2009 for Climate Change.
Are you on twitter? Twitter hashtags for this event include #BAD09, #climateweek, and #climatechange.
Whereas I participated in Blog Action Day 2008, I had not yet heard about the 2009 event until I saw a message from Susie of The Canary Report on twitter. Thanks, Susie, for bringing this to my attention early.
P.S. Please don’t forget to Stumble and Tweet This below to help get the word out. Blog Action Day will be on October 15, 2009.

I totally understand; I think it’s an awesome adaptation! I loved your answers!
I almost put the Harry Potter books as one of my 7 but it didn’t make the final cut. I’m madly in love with Prof Lupin <3
Sonja,
I’m glad to see you got the comment I left on your blog.
Yes, I love Harry Potter books. We are dressing up as Harry Potter characters for Halloween.

I’m not so sure climate change is the Number One Threat to our planet, but I’m willing to compare research on both sides, as I think this is about global warming? Something I read or heard last week from some big weather service about actually cooler temps for the past 10 years, or something. Please don’t quote me on that, tho until I look into who shows that.
Perhaps a bigger problem is people generally not being nice to each other.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love. ( No, not just for some but for each and every one.)
I love that music on the video.
And it so great to be back in chronic healing land! I’ve been away too long.

Jannie,
I just read your typos and they were as funny as ever.
Terminology tends to confuse the issue because “global warming” makes it sound like the problem is only about temperatures rising… which isn’t the case at all. Climate change is a more logical phrasing since the weather abnormalities aren’t limited to temperatures going up. It’s certainly possible that it is cooler where you are than before. (It’s almost like we’re in that Superman bizarro land Jerry Seinfeld used to talk about on Seinfeld where things are the opposite). I remember when you had that freaky snowstorm and posted snow on your palm trees. That’s pretty unusual… a snowy palm tree! Where I live, every summer (except this one) in the past few years we have broken heat records. On the other hand, our winters have been milder overall for many years now than when I was a kid. It seems with some of the particularly destructive hurricanes and tsunamis that there are some extremes going on that are concerning. (The sea level issues are concerning). I know we’ve had tornadoes near me in recent years and that didn’t used to happen in the part of the country. That not to say that there was never a tornado near here. (I remember one when I was in high school). However, we’ve had several tornadoes this summer alone. That’s really strange.
You are very right that people are not being nice enough to each other. I have recently observed name-calling and nastiness that saddens me. It would be far better if people could be polite and respectful of others. You are very right that the world needs love… for everyone, like you said. I was watching the Peace Summit via live feed from Vancouver this weekend. It was really interesting to watch. One of the big themes they discussed was compassion. They spent more time than one might think defining the word compassion. They had 3 of the 12 women who have ever won the Nobel Peace Prize on the one discussion panel. The moderator of the panel, Mary Robinson, is the former President of Ireland. They also had His Holiness The Dalai Lama there. Archbishop Desmond Tutu was scheduled to be there but unable to travel to Vancouver due to a back problem. So he filmed a video and his daughter was there on his behalf.
It was very interesting to see people of different religions and from all over the world come together for the Vancouver Peace Summit.
One of the main topics discussed on Sunday’s Internet coverage of the Peace Summit was the pending launch of Charter For Compassion. My perception of this Charter for Compassion is that its goal is just what you touched on Jannie… to make the world a more peaceful, loving place. What I took out of one panel discussion was that compassion is very important for ultimately achieving peace. I believe one person put it like this… compassion –> love –> peace.
So, I couldn’t agree with you more about the world needing love!
I love how much you love music. Music is so powerful, isn’t it? To be able to make music like you is a special gift.
You are funny. That makes sense, though, since you are The Funster… after all!
