Blog Action Day 2010: Water

Today is Blog Action Day 2010. The focus for Blog Action Day this year is water.

If you’re wondering why Blog Action Day decided to focus this year on the topic of water, just take a look here:

Interesting statistics about water

It is reported that 900 million people worldwide do not have access to clean water. The United Nations has declared access to clean water and sanitation a human right (see below):

General Assembly declares access to clean water and sanitation is a human right

Won’t you sign this petition to support the UN’s efforts to bring clean, safe water to millions?

In some parts of the world, we take clean water for granted. Sadly, there are other parts of the world where clean water is badly needed. Won’t you add your voice to the petition above? Thank you.

Jenny,

Really? I’m sorry to hear that. What happened when you tried? It’s supposed to be a worldwide event. Does the petition reject the zip code?

You know what’s awesome, Jeanne?

(I mean besides you?)

When I signed the petition on another blogger’s site this morning there were I think about 600 signatures — and now there are 1618! Wonder how many there will be by this time tomorrow!

And I gave a small donation to Church World Service today, not much at all, but it all adds up. They help with clean water.

Happy Blog Action Day!

Jannie:

You know what’s awesome, Jannie? (Besides you, of course)… The petition now has 1,881 signatures just a short time later. I wonder how many there will be this time tomorrow too. Isn’t the Internet amazing?

That is wonderful that you made a donation to an organization that helps with clean water.

Yes, Happy Blog Action Day! ;)

xo

Jenny:

Oh… I thought it wouldn’t work at all. I don’t know why it didn’t let you pick a province but I’m glad you managed to get it to work despite that. :) (Psst: You’re awesome too!)

Jannie,

It is now 2,275 signatures. :)

Yes, if it weren’t for the Internet we never would have met. I can’t imagine that! Thank you, Internet! Life without Jannie Funster would definitely not be the same!
